I feel the same way at times. Like I've past my blogging peak. In fact, I've been feeling it quite a bit lately. Self-doubt makes a blogger - and a blog - wobbly. I have no advice...just thought maybe you'd get something out of the commiseration. ;) Have a great trip to Cape Town.

For the honesty and vital SA/Apartheid opinion, thank you and welcome back (however brief).

It seems like your recent posts have been about guilt over blogging so I'd say walk away and know that we support you if it's what you need to be happy. We'll be happier to read when you're convinced writing's good for you!

Have a brain-growing experience in Sud Afrika.

Re: those first two paragraphs? I know, I know, I know! And I'm not like Mad - I wouldn't rather have my head in a book. I miss that blog-composer running constantly in my head, and I don't feel that the space it used to occupy is being used for anything remotely as interesting now.

Hi,
Bloggers are SO unselfish and generous with their time and their talents. I appreciate your blog for your thought-provoking stories, descriptions and most of all your art. Mostly I am jealous of you all and your ability to share and vent stories of your day to day experiences with children, work, volunteerism, and what you are reading. I had kids and husband before the internet. My generation (my children were born in the early 80"s) had only MA Bell through which to reach out.
Being an avid reader of you and others is easy. Google Reader keeps us organized alerting us to what is unread when it was written. Maintaining a blog must be awful at times. Speaking for myself I often feel guilty for my lack of sharing with other a blog as my writing ability and worse lack of political astuteness are lacking.
In short I am happy when you are here!
Linda PS I miss you Mad (may I call you Mad?!)

I think we're at the same place with blogging. Right now, I'd rather have my nose in a book.

I remember being an undergrad outraged by Apartheid and wanting to find ways to fight it. Now that the system is no longer there, SA has fallen off the world's radar. Off course, though, a system like that leaves a legacy that can never really be erased.
